3.85 – Break The Butterfly

Here’s quite possibly the most Scottish-sounding band this side of the mighty Proclaimers – the wonderful Break the Butterfly, who also take the title for ‘most exciting thing to ever come from Levenmouth’.

With a mix of jangly rock and folk-tinged punk, lyrics about necking jaeger-bombs and some nice throat-shredding Scot-rock vocals that couldn’t sound more Caledonian unless they roped in Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon to share centre stage, this is fantastic. A little pastiched, maybe – especially once the bagpipes kick in – but nevertheless, thoroughly enjoyable.

Check out this tune Pringle and then give the album Chrysalis a try. It’s so good.
