3.39 – CRX

I haven’t played anything bright and breezy for a while, so here’s a little something by Los Angeleans CRX to lighten the mood.

This is Ways To Fake It and it’s a stirring little piece of pop-rock goodness filled with razor sharp synth/guitars – as you’d expect from a group put together by The Strokes’ Nick Valensi. There’s some definite Reptilia and Machu Picchu-influenced sounds here, but yet it manages to steer clear of being just a standard “best-selling band member side project that kind of sounds like the famous band he’s in, but not as good” fare.

I’d say that puts it firmly in the ‘win’ column.
