3.4 – M83

It’s the first hump day of the year and, if you’re one of the poor folk like me who’s had to be back at work this week, you’re probably looking for something a little bit uplifting to get you through the afternoon.

So here’s a wonderfully chirpy throwback tune from LA-based French electronica band M83. It’s called Road Blaster and comes from their latest album Junk – and it’s absolutely fantastic.

This is 80s nostalgia mixed with introspective modern day indie – kind of like if Peter Gabriel and The Human League teamed up but let Sufjan Stevens take over lead vocal duties. And the result is incredible, full of the kind of bouncy synths, electronic beats and orchestral pop that could have easily topped the circa-1988 charts.

Lovely stuff.
