192 – Airways

Something a bit new and exciting here, from Peterborough indie rock quartet Airways.

Sounding like the bastard love child of the Arctic Monkeys, KONGOS, Plan B and 90s Britpop fringe-meisters Space, these guys have come up with one of the best wee tunes I’ve heard in a long time in One Foot.

I’m generally a big fan of sleazy guitar hooks and this track has an absolute barnstormer of one that undulates relentlessly during each chorus. Add onto that some deep, brooding basslines and the nasal, spoke-sung stylings of their frontman and it’s a recipe for success.

Hopefully a full album worth of material will be this good. I’m waiting eagerly to find out…
