76 – Gina Chavez

I don’t think I’ve ever put up any Latin America-infused salsa sounds before, so here’s something incredible from Austin singer-songwriter Gina Chavez.

The song is Siete-D and it’s amazing. Just so, so, so, so good – and unlike anything that I’m usually drawn to musically. It’s infectiously bouncy, with a tinge of Mediterranean Europop and a host of South American swing – all filled with trumpets and funky guitars and swagger.  I’m a big fan.

Live version from Balcony TV is pretty great too – although I do prefer the studio version.
