21 – Rat Boy

I’m not hugely knowledgeable about the whole homegrown indie rap/urban whiteboy street scene aside from a few Streets and Jamie T songs here and there. But I’m certainly not against it as a genre – and I really like what I’ve heard so far of today’s artist: Chelmsford cheekster Rat Boy.

I heard his latest track Move yesterday and, while it’s good, I actually prefer his earlier single Sign On which is a great little tune about life being generally shit, poverty being a pain in the arse and signing on for the dole being a relatively soul-crushing experience.  All done to a jaunty little indie backdrop.

I’m looking forward to a full album’s worth of stuff. Should be good fun.
