10 – Into It. Over It.

Something unashamedly throwback today, from emo-pop veteran Evan Weiss’s solo project Into It. Over It.

Now, the whole emo-rock/pop revival of the early 2010s kind of passed me by and even earlier emo stuff like Death Cab for Cutie was never really on my radar at the time. So I’m coming into the genre very late in the game. Not all of it is exactly my cup of tea, I’ll readily admit, but when you get tunes like this one – Upstate Blues from 2013’s Intersections  it’s tremendous fun.

Taking elements of 90s alternative college radio rock with the nasal whine of Jimmy Eat World, it’s a great wee tune that meanders nicely around some emotional landmarks without getting too deep into self loathing. I’m sure there are better examples of emo-revivalists out there, but for a newbie charlatan like myself, this is great place to start.
