Day 365 – Ezra Furman

It’s a year! 365 posts of music from new artists I haven’t heard of, all released in the past 4-5 years. It’s been a blast and I’ll take a day to process everything before doing a round-up post detailing all the highs, lows and the lessons learned.

i’ll continue blogging, albeit probably not daily for the moment. I’ve been pretty rubbish at doing daily updates over the past month or two and there’s been a lot of scurrying around trying to get back up to speed by writing 6 posts and backdating them all. I think semi regular round-up posts featuring a range of songs may be better than doing one per day, but we’ll see how that pans out.

So anyway, onto today’s artist. This is Chicago singer Ezra Furman with the insanely poppy, frantic and fun Restless Year. A sort of mental mix between the Violent Femmes and They Might Be Giants, with the visual style of a musical Eddie Izzard, and filled with 60s-esque “ooh-wah-oohs” and psychedelic organs this is so much fun to listen to. The perfect track to mark my year-long milestone.

Awesome little video too.

Congratulations on the year sir! And what a stonking year of tunes it’s been. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I’ve enjoyed dipping in and out of the blog to get updates and find new music. 5 stars, would listen again.
