Shiny, 90s-tinged indie sounds today from Sheffield quartet Best Friends – who come across like a scuzzy garage rock mix of the Stone Roses and some US surf-pop/new wave outfits like Best Coast.
I really like this song, their new single Cold Shapes. It’s a fuzzy, happy little tune that’s been burrowing away in my brain for a week or so now so I’m glad to be finally getting it down on the blog.
I’ve got to say, I’m not as much of a fan of the rest of their recent album Hot. Reckless. Totally Insane. It’s OK, but this is a clear stand-out track for me; although I’ll admit that I’ve not given the album a huge amount of my time. Maybe once I get some spare time I’ll revisit it and my mind will be changed, but for now I’ll happily just keep Cold Shapes on my playlist.
Loving the Wonder Stuff-esque video visuals too. 🙂
