This is stunning.
Yes, I’m back on a folk kick today, but this song is absolutely gorgeous. It’s called Hawthorn and it’s by North-East folk group The Unthanks (previously known as Rachel Unthank and the Winterset).
Dreamy, sorrowful and tinged with melancholy piano and trumpet parts, this is beautiful stuff indeed and a bit of a departure to the usual music that I post up on the blog. It’s been haunting me for a good few weeks now, so I just felt the time was right to pop it up and see what everybody thinks.
Unfortunately (and this is always the case when I find something awesome to share) there’s no video version of the song on YouTube. So you’ll have to make do with a video for another one of their tracks, Flutter – which is also a great song, but just not as good. Do check out the Spotify link if you can though, because that’s the one I really want you to hear.
