Day 283 – Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin

A strong contender for the “greatest-named band on the 365 New Music Project list” title today. This is Missouri group Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin with some excellent 70s-themed light glam rock sounds.

The song is Full Possession of All Her Powers and it kind of sounds like a Thin Lizzy/Bachman Turner Overdrive-esque combination. Jangly, crisp guitars, playful *thud thud* drums and semi-whimsical vocals all combine to make a head-bobbingly catchy little tune, harking back to the era of T-Rex, tight trousers and unashamed sexual promiscuity.

The rest of the recently-released album this appears on – The High Road – is well worth checking out, although it does drag a little by the latter stages. This is easily the best track of the bunch, though.
