I don’t tend to gravitate towards grime and UK urban rap/soul much, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate it when it’s done really well. And this track from London MC Ghostpoet is absolutely awesome.
Off Peak Dreams is taken from his latest album Shedding Skin and it’s a glorious tune. From its delicate piano intro to the swirling electro-synth backing beats and the understated, slick, tumbling inner city poetry of the vocal track it’s all glorious stuff.
I’m away to try and listen to a few more choice cuts from the LP and to see what other tips folk have for Ghostpoet’s earlier work – but you should definitely listen to this. It’s ace.
