A brief return to some 60s-influenced psychedelic stuff today, with Boston band Quilt.
Imagine an early version of The Cardigans if they’d been locked away listening to Jefferson Airplane and The Electric Prunes. The resulting mesh of sounds incorporates woozy 60s guitar riffs, twangy 70s folk rock, hypnotic harmonies and the kind of impressive song structuring that you really don’t see much of these days.
This track Tie Up The Tides – from their latest album Held In Splendour – is an awesome piece of music. Intricate and intriguing, yet still simplistic and almost childlike in its delivery, its a Summery piece of laid back, dreamy indie rock, tinged with a hazy, hallucinatory backdrop. And the vocals are just lovely.
Nice video too.
