Day 193 – Sunset Sons

After some forays into different genres, it’s back to the land of indie rock and beards this evening with a cracking tune from Anglo-Australian-French group Sunset Sons.

This is Medicine from their recently-released Fall Line EP and the best way I can describe it is like a meshing together of the best parts of the Kings of Leon and The Magic Numbers. It’s punchy, introspective and melodically-pleasing rock with a great chorus and a very established performance from lead singer Rory Williams – and it’s just really good. Nothing flashy or overtly over the top, but just really solid and polished stuff that I’m loving listening to.

Like so many bands on my list so far, I’m really looking forward to hearing a full album’s worth of tunes from these guys when they finally release their debut LP. With a bit of luck it’ll all be as good as this.
