I didn’t quite get round to reinstating the high octane Monday posts last week, so I’m keen to make amends this time. And while it’s not quite as loud, proud and brash as it could be, this is still a rockier tune than some of the ones I’ve been posting recently.
This is Living A Lie by London-based up-and-coming rockers Red House Glory and its a really nice, tight little tune full of interesting licks and well put together vocal nuances. There’s a little bit of indie/blues under the surface, which basks in the sheen of some cracking electric guitar and the scuzzier parts of influences like Queens of the Stone Age and, at times, early era Foo Fighters. Possibly even with some Depeche Mode-y vibes thrown in for good measure around the chorus line.
These guys have been tipped for big things and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a very impressive tune indeed and one that whets the appetite for their forthcoming debut album. I’m looking forward to it already.
