Day 34 – Kvelertak

Due to time constraints and general disorganisation, it’s going to be a very short post today. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow, but in the meantime here’s something brash and loud for this Saturday night.

This is Kvelertak – a mental 6-piece heavy metal band from Norway who play loud, proud and very, very hard. Kind of a throwback to the hair-tastic metal era in the 80s/90s, they’re a nice reminder that this kind of stuff is still out there and finding a large follower base.

The song I’ve chosen is the eponymous single taken from their 2013 album Meir and it’s just great fun. Shredding guitar riffs aplenty and some scratchy, thrashy vocals which sound like their lead singer is trying to bludgeon his microphone to death through the power of his voice alone. Marvellous stuff indeed.
